Kicheche Wilderness Safari



A fantastic combination safari, in two stunning Conservancies with a walking safari and fly camp between them, staying at KICHECHE VALLEY and KICHECHE BUSH camps.

This safari is led by one of Kicheche’s Silver KPSGA guides and offers an outstanding opportunity to see the Masai Mara from all perspectives with extended game drives, night drives and a walking safari. Explore the smaller aspects of savannah life – birds, grasses, and insects on your walking excursion and your game drives on the plains will contain countless wildlife photographic opportunities.

Day 1 Depart Nairobi on the scheduled morning or afternoon flight to the Masai Mara. Touchdown in this magnificent wilderness and your guide will be there to greet you before setting out across the plains where you will have your first wildlife sighting enroute to camp. After lunch. relax and absorb the surroundings before setting off on an afternoon game drive in the conservancy till sunset. Return to camp at dusk for hot showers, then an aperitif by the fireside with your hosts before settling down for dinner.

Overnight Kicheche Valley.

Day 2 An early start to the day with piping hot coffee or tea brought to your tent. Your guide will take you on a morning game drive to explore the savannah and see what nature has to offer. This afternoon take another evening game drive before getting back to camp for dinner. Night game drives are also available and can be taken before or after dinner.

Day 3 Take an early breakfast prior to checking out of camp and commencing your guided walk. There route heads west from Kicheche Valley and will take 4 to 5 hours before arriving at the fly camp in Naboisho Conservancy adjacent to a stream. There we enjoy a delectable bush lunch, and have some recovery time in the shade. In the afternoon we will explore the beautiful surrounding area on foot. There is also an opportunity to visit a Masai boma outside the conservancy and to witness cattle being brought back from the plains to their barricaded home for the night.

Back to the fly camp for dinner and overnight.

Day 4 You are awoken at dawn with a hot drink before continuing the journey on
foot in the cool morning. Your guide will continue to uncover points of interest on
the journey along the escarpment and Seketa Valley of Olare Motorogi Conservancy to reach Bush Camp just before lunch. You will then take an afternoon game drive in the conservancy.

Overnight Kicheche Bush Camp.

Day 5 Rise early with tea or coffee brought to your tent. Enjoy a morning game drive in the Conservancy. You will see differing terrain along with plenty of animal and bird species. Your afternoon game drive will be followed by sundowner drinks overlooking the plains,
before returning to camp at dusk.

Overnight Kicheche Bush Camp.

Day 6 After breakfast in camp, transfer to the airstrip for your flight to Nairobi (11.00-12.15)

The walking will not be strenuous and there will be many intervals at various points of interest. The distance covered daily will be approximately 10km, taking around 6 hours.

What to take
We advise that you wear sturdy walking shoes or boots. Water, sun cream and a hat are other essential items and don’t forget your binoculars. If you like you can carry with you a small, light backpack.
